Prepare for Your Telehealth Visit
Follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth and productive virtual appointment.
Equipment Checklist
Camera
Test your webcam before the appointment. Ensure it shows a clear image.
Microphone
Test your mic in Zoom settings. Speak clearly and check audio levels.
Speakers/Headphones
Use headphones for better audio quality and privacy.
Private Space
Find a quiet, private room where you won't be interrupted.
Do's
- Join 5-10 minutes early to test your connection and equipment
- Use a stable Wi-Fi connection or connect via ethernet if possible
- Sit in a well-lit area with light facing you (not behind)
- Have your medications and questions ready to discuss
- Close unnecessary tabs and apps to improve performance
- Keep your phone charged as a backup device
Don'ts
- Don't join while driving or operating machinery — it's unsafe and distracting
- Don't use public spaces like cafés or libraries for privacy reasons
- Don't multitask during your session — give your provider full attention
- Don't share your Zoom link with others — it's for your use only
- Don't record the session without permission from your provider
- Don't wait until the last minute to troubleshoot technical issues
